Shedeur Sanders Sets Off Alarm Bells With Cleveland Browns Fans With Horrible Reaction Time Test

Perhaps the biggest skill an NFL quarterback can have, beyond even a strong arm or great mobility, is the ability to quickly process defenses and react accordingly. Questions over that ability were part of what led Shedeur Sanders to drop to the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Now, after a new video posted by the Browns on their social media channels, those concerns have only grown louder.

The video features Sanders competing in a reaction-time test where plastic tubes are randomly dropped from a structure that is slightly above his head. The goal of the test is to catch as many of the tubes as possible.

In the first go-around, Sanders is clearly joking around and barely catches any of the tubes. However, he then seems to lock in and take things a little more seriously. Unfortunately for Browns fans, the second attempt didn’t go much better. Sanders caught just five of the nine tubes that fell from the structure.

The test took place at the NFL’s annual rookie symposium. A leaderboard in the background showed that Denver Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant caught all nine of the tubes, while Sanders’ fellow rookie quarterbacks Cam Ward and Jaxson Dart both caught eight.

“THAT’S MY QB1 😤💪 (why did we draft this guy 😭🙏),” one fan commented on Instagram.

“He can’t even catch the last one bro? We’re so done 🤦😂,” wrote another.

Some in the comments suggested that Sanders wasn’t taking the test seriously. And that’s very possible. But for someone whose attitude and competitiveness have often come under fire, is that really any better? Yes, it would mean that Sanders’ reactions aren’t as bad as they appeared. But you have to wonder if he has the competitive mindset that you want from a franchise quarterback.

Both Ward and Dart clearly do. If Sanders does, let’s hope he’s showing much more of it to Cleveland coaches than he is to fans.
