There’s no rest for the weary and that’s especially true if you’re a Nebraska football head coach. The Huskers have started their winter conditioning, but the staff is still hitting the recruiting trail hard.
After coaches were out visiting several prospects, one of which included dynamic wideout Cortez Mills, a top target for the Huskers in 2025, the staff hosted 13 visitors over the weekend in Lincoln.
Nebraska is working hard to establish things with top targets in 2025 and 2026 and so far, the Huskers have done a great job.
One of the recruits on campus was four-star defensive end Jaylen Williams. He’s 6-foot-6, 280 pounds, and is out of Illinois. He’s also ranked No. 248 overall according to the On3 Industry rankings and also in the top 200 via 247 Sports.

Williams was viewed as a Michigan lean until recently. But there was a head coaching change and following his unofficial visit this weekend, which Williams rated as an “11” on a scale of 1-10, he said he’ll be back for an official visit according to what he told Bryan Munson of Husker Online.
Mills, the wide receiver, also said he was going to take an official visit for the Colorado game in September. So that’s some positive movement with a pair of top targets in 2025.
However, the Huskers also continued to make their push for in-state athlete Pierce Mooberry. The three-star, according to 247 Sports, is 6-foot-4, 200 pounds.
Mooberry would likely be a linebacker at the next level, but he’s a true athlete. He’s also ranked fifth in the state of Nebraska according to 247 Sports. The Huskers have a pair of crystal ball projections already and after another visit this weekend, they seem like the odds-on favorite for another in-state commitment.
Mooberry is expected to take another visit during the spring. The Huskers have already landed Tyson Terry and Caden VerMass, two of the top five in-state recruits in 2025 and Mooberry could be next.
