Matt Rhule completed a slight shakeup of his recruiting operation as Nebraska football has a couple of new staffers.

There has only been one change so far for Matt Rhule and the Nebraska football coaching staff regarding on-field assistants. That was the hire of Glenn Thomas as quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator.

That also means that Josh Martin will return to his previous job as an analyst. However, there have been other changes. Omar Hales, the director of player personnel, has moved on after one season on the job, and on Monday, we learned who Rhule has tabbed as his replacement — Keith Williams.

The former Nebraska football offensive lineman was the assistant director of player personnel and has now been promoted. It’s an important job in the recruiting department and while it’s unclear why Hales left, Williams should be up to the task with his experience in coaching and personnel.

Another staff move by the Huskers

Williams wasn’t the only hire announced by Nebraska football on Monday as the Huskers have hired former TCU general manager Anthony Crespino according to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.

Crespino was the chief of staff for Sonny Dykes before following him to TCU to be the general manager for the Horned Frogs. I’m not sure if he will have that same title with Nebraska but he’ll have some role in football operations.

These hires might not seem significant on the outside, but they are vital to building a competitive recruiting operation. Like many of his hires, Crespino has ties to Texas, which is a state that Nebraska wants to recruit heavily and has had a lot of success already under Matt Rhule.

So in some ways, his hire shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.
