The Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator recently selected 12 startup companies, including one from Alabama, to participate in its 13-week mentoring program aimed at helping the early-stage businesses to succeed.
Alabama Power launched the Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator in 2020 to promote innovations in energy technology.
Since then, 42 startups from across the United States and around the world have been selected to part in the program that takes place in Birmingham. These new, innovative companies receive seed funding, business coaching and mentorship from Alabama business leaders and others in the Techstars network.

“We want to keep building the future of energy here,” said Matthew Jaeh, managing director of the Accelerator.
“The companies that have received investments and mentoring from Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator are in the top 1 percent of the thousands of applications we receive from all over the world. They are the best of the best, and a few of them have made Alabama home.”
In addition to Alabama Power, the Accelerator program enjoys valuable support from the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA), the Alabama Department of Commerce, PowerSouth, the University of Alabama, and Southern Research.

Techstars Alabama EnergyTech has helped founders succeed in building businesses across the energy tech space. In just two years, the two classes have raised a combined $150M.
Supporting partners of the program deliver their high-level expertise in their industries and deep connections to the region provide startup companies accepted into the accelerator an unfair competitive advantage.
