U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) is praising the efforts of the U.S. Department of Justice in combating a rise in antisemitism seen across the country recently.
The Justice Department launched Joint Task Force October 7 (JTF 10-7) in March, an initiative that will seek justice for the victims of the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack in Israel and address the ongoing threat posed by Hamas and its affiliates.
The program will also investigate acts of terrorism and civil rights violations by individuals and entities providing support and financing to Hamas, related Iran proxies, and their affiliates, as well as acts of antisemitism by these groups.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi testified in front of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Wednesday.
During the hearing, Britt personally thanked Bondi for implementing the Joint Task Force on October 7.
“I want to just tell you I was heartened to see your memo that created the Joint Task Force on October 7,” Britt said.
“Thank you for your commitment to getting justice for those victims, for addressing the threat that is posed by Hamas, and for combating antisemitism. We have seen a rise in that in the last two years here on our soil, and particularly in college campuses. And so when we’re making sure that antisemitism, terrorism, and civil rights violations are adjudicated and given the proper weight by the Department of Justice, I could not be more grateful.”
I’m deeply grateful to @AGPamBondi for creating the October 7th Joint Task Force.

Bondi responded to Britt and explained why she thought the effort was necessary.
“We are staffed with dedicated prosecutors, agents, analysts, and linguists, and we are working hand in hand to support all of the efforts,” Bondi said. “You know, if you’re a Jewish college student now, you should be able to freely wear your star around your necklace and around your neck on necklace and walk into college campuses. I had a young man tell me he had to take it off at a university because he was scared to death, and I was glad he took it off for his safety. You shouldn’t have to do that. You should be proud of your religion, and you should be safe to practice your religion in this country.”
“We will continue to do everything through the October 7 task force to protect everyone in this country.”
