Nebraska football has a new crystal ball projection in the 2025 recruiting class, plus more Nebraska Cornhuskers news.

It was an active weekend for Nebraska football on the recruiting trail as the Cornhuskers had more than 30 recruits on campus from the 2025 and 2026 classes.

There was even a three-star defensive end visiting in the 2024 class. We talked about that on Friday and Keona Wilhite is a name to watch as a late addition for the Huskers in the 2024 cycle.

However, the focus was more on future classes. Things are getting serious in 2025 and it was a good weekend for Nebraska football with top in-state recruit Christian Jones, who called the visit, “The best one yet.” Five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell said that he will make a return trip after taking his third visit to Nebraska.

2026 Five-star OT Jackson Cantwell already thinking about another trip to Lincoln after enjoyable visit this weekend.

"Nebraska is a great university and I think I’ll take another visit at some point sooner rather than later."

Chase Loftin, another top target from the state of Nebraska also enjoyed his visit. He also told Husker Online that he’ll be visiting Alabama and USC this next weekend.

There weren’t any commitments expected this weekend, but Nebraska football has picked up a new crystal ball projection for 2025 wideout Bryson Hayes. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder is from Kansas and is ranked 713th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He runs the 40-yard dash in sub 4.4 and got a projection from Steve Wiltfong to land with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

All in all, it seems like Nebraska built some positive momentum this weekend. On that same note, Dylan Raiola was named Co-MVP of the Polynesian Bowl, capping an incredible weekend for the future starting quarterback. Carter Nelson also shined in the All-Star game. 

Nebraska Cornhuskers women’s basketball team falls on the road

Nebraska was on the road against Penn State but was outscored by the Nittany Lions by 10 points in the second and third quarters on their way to an 82-73 loss.

Alexis Markowski was a force in defeat with 16 points and 19 rebounds. Jaz Shelley and Darian White pitched in with 12 points each. Next up for Nebraska women’s baskeball (14-5) is Caitlin Clark and Iowa on Saturday.

Nebraska wrestling wins dual

The Nebraska Cornhuskers wrestling team improved to 7-1 overall in dual competition and 2-1 in the Big Ten following a 27-14 win over Purdue on Saturday.

Nebraska notched two pins in the victory over the Boilermakers including a victory by fall from top-ranked Ridge Lovett who pinned Marcos Polancos in 6:12. Peyton Robb was also credited with a pin for the Huskers at 157 pounds, and at 197, Silas Allred scored a technical fall.

That was one of four bonus-point victories for Nebraska wrestling. The Huskers also got a 5-0 decision from heavyweight Nash Hutcmacher. Lenny Pinto ranked third at 184 pounds, also won his match by decision.
